Our Story
I want to tell you something today that goes beyond a health tip or a psychology post. I want to tell you about A Friendly Shoulder and where it really came from, because I think when you know the story, you will understand why this place feels different from anything else you have come across.
In 2018, I created a health-focused Facebook community. For a while it grew and I loved it. But then life hit me in a way I was not prepared for. I went through one of the most difficult periods I have ever faced, and I stepped away from the group to deal with it. What I did not expect was how alone I would find myself during that time. I am a foreigner in the United States. I have no family here, no safety net, nobody close by. And when things got hard, the people I thought would show up simply did not. I found myself going through some of the darkest moments of my life with nobody to even talk to. Not because I had done anything wrong. Just because that is how life can go, especially when you are far from home in a country where everyone is busy with their own survival. I am a deeply social person. The loneliness of that period shook me in a way I had never experienced before. But somewhere inside it, a question started forming that I could not let go of. How many other people are sitting exactly where I was right now? People with no family nearby, no money for a therapist, no community, no safe place to say out loud what they are going through. And how many of them are not going to make it through, not because life had nothing left to offer, but simply because they had no one and nowhere to turn.
That question became A Friendly Shoulder. The name came to me instantly and I knew the moment it did that nothing else could describe the purpose better. Not therapy. Not advice. A shoulder. Something warm, human, and simply there when you need it. I rebuilt the community around that purpose. And then, completely by accident, Dr. Clint Stankiewicz found one of my posts and left a comment. A conversation started. And the more we talked, the more I could see something in him that is genuinely rare, even among people who have spent their entire careers in the helping professions. A real depth. A care for people that went far beyond his credentials. He is a doctor of psychology and deeply devoted to his work, but what struck me was not his title. It was his spirit. I offered him to build this together. I would cover the health and wellness side. He would cover the psychological and mental health side. Since that conversation, A Friendly Shoulder has not stopped growing.
What I want you to understand more than anything else is this. A Friendly Shoulder is not just another business. It is a philosophy. A philosophy that drives every person who is part of this team and everything we build together. The philosophy is simple. Meet people where they are. Remove every barrier you can. Show up. We stand behind this completely and we always will.
Here is what that looks like in practice.
Our Facebook community is free and always will be. Thousands of people come there every day to read, learn, share, and find each other. We post about health, relationships, psychology, and real life because we want you to actually learn something when you come. But more than that, I want you to come and share. If you are lonely, do not stay quiet. If you do not know where to turn, come there. Do not worry about what anyone will think. That is not what this space is about.
I also know that not everyone feels comfortable sharing in a public group, and I respect that completely. So we built options around it. You can post anonymously. You can use a nickname. And if even that does not feel safe enough, we have private closed groups available for just $20 a month, built around specific topics and shared experiences, where everything stays within that circle and is permanently removed at the end of the month. Your privacy is protected and the price is kept low on purpose, because the moment cost becomes the reason someone does not get support, we have failed the whole point.
For those who want to go even deeper, we offer couples retreats including a flagship 9-day luxury experience and a Weekend Reset Retreat, as well as One-Day Intensive Sessions, 3-Hour Workshops, and virtual formats for people who cannot travel. Whatever you can access, whatever you can afford, there is something here for you. You can find everything we offer in the Services section of our website.
We are also growing our team, and we do it carefully. I do not just look at someone's qualifications when I consider bringing them into A Friendly Shoulder. I look for the spirit. I need to feel in that person a genuine desire to help, a warmth and depth that this philosophy demands. If you are a professional who feels what I am describing and believes you carry that spirit, I want to hear from you. Send us a message through our contact page and let us start a conversation.
I know we cannot change the world. But I believe we can change it for many of the people who find their way to us. And I intend to keep building this until we reach as many of them as possible.
